Who works on giftedness — and the gap for adults.

India has serious institutes for gifted children, but almost none focused on gifted adults. Here's an honest map of where to look, in India and globally.

In India, the recognised institutes work with gifted children. For gifted adults, there is currently no dedicated Indian institute — which is the gap Gifted Grownups exists to fill.

Gifted-education institutes in India

These are India's leading bodies on giftedness. Their focus is identification and mentoring of gifted children (0–18), but they are the country's centre of expertise and research.

NIAS Education for the Gifted & Talented (NIAS-EGT)

At the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bengaluru, led by Prof. Anitha Kurup. Runs the national programme on identification and mentoring of gifted children and shaped gifted-education provisions in India's National Education Policy 2020.

Mensa India

The Indian chapter of the global high-IQ society. Open to adults (and children) who score at or above the 98th percentile on a supervised IQ test. It identifies high measured IQ rather than the broader experience of giftedness — but it is the main adult-facing body in India.

SENG — Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted

US non-profit founded in 1981. Focuses not on academics but on the emotional and social needs of gifted and twice-exceptional people across the whole lifespan, with support groups, articles, and a mental-health directory.
